As I mentioned in my first post this year, I don’t make New Year’s resolutions, but what I do make are two lists – a list of books to read and a travel wish list for the upcoming year.
Our travel wish list is a long one. But when we are discussing and planning our trips for the next year, we try to be realistic. It’s impossible to visit all the places in one year and our budget has limits. If we would like to go for a longer trip, or further from our base camp (currently Brussels), we will probably do only a handful of trips that year. But if we plan to stay within Europe, we can plan many more trips.
We already know there will be a few work related travels, which we will extend by a couple of days. Since we will already be in that city, it only makes sense to stay a bit longer and fully explore the place.
We spent all of our holidays for the last few years on city trips. We explored new countries, tried new foods and walked for hours in an attempt to see, experience and do as much as possible.
We were talking about a seaside holiday for quite some time, but at the end, when we are deciding whether we want to sunbathe on the beach or see a new city, the city always wins.
So far we have listed 13 cities we would like to visit in 2017. It is easily doable, but we will see what will actually come true and what we will postpone to 2018. 🙂
Trips within Benelux
We have visited many cities in Belgium and Netherlands already, but we have never been to Luxembourg. We have been talking about visiting Luxembourg City many times, but it didn’t happen yet. This year Luxembourg City is high on our travel wish list.

Well known places, but new to us
Many of our friends already visited and talked so nicely about these cities. All of them are relatively close do Brussels, and some of them had been on our travel wish list for a long time. Hopefully, this is the year to go there.
Places worth a visit again, and again and again
All of these cities are beautiful, interesting and each is different than the others. We have been to all of them already, but we would like to visit them again. This year we plan to go there for a conference or to meet with friends.
Hidden gems of Eastern Europe
We don’t know what to expect from these cities, but we are eager to visit at least one of them. I’m sure they are not as touristy as cities in the Western Europe, but since they are all capitals I’m sure there’s a lot to see and do there.
